Bulgarian archaeologists have discovered an ancient Roman fortress in the South of the country

The ruins of the ancient Roman fortress were discovered by archaeologists near the ancient Thracian sanctuary carved in the rock. It is located near the village of angel Voyvoda in the haskov region in southern Bulgaria.
The discovery was made by a team of archaeologists led by Professor Zdravko Dimitrov from the National Institute and the Museum of archaeology at the Academy of Sciences of Bulgaria.
The sanctuary near the village of angel Voyvoda in the Northern Rhodope mountains is well known as one of the numerous prehistoric rock sanctuaries in Bulgaria.
