British MINI brand on the eve of the imminent premiere at the third-generation international motor show in Los Angeles, Cooper shared with motorists information about the range of future bestseller's engines.
In the European market, the basic version of the MINI Cooper will be equipped with a new 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 138 hp. and a maximum torque of 220 Nm at 1,250 rpm. In Overboost mode, the three-cylinder engine develops 230 Nm of peak torque. Another engine in the range of the British car is a 195-horsepower gasoline unit with four cylinders. In normal mode, the torque of the power plant is 278 Nm, in the Ooverboost mode for a short time, the motor gives out 300 Nm. Lovers of diesel engines, the company will offer a 3-cylinder unit of 1.5 liters. Power "engine" is 116 hp, the peak moment - 269 Nm. All three engines equipped with turbocharging and Stop & Start fuel-saving technology are able to work in tandem with new transmissions - mechanical and automatic.
The official press release notes that the list of equipment of the third-generation MINI Cooper will include a new electric power steering with the ability to change the load, adjustable shock absorbers with two modes of operation (comfort and sport) and several new safety systems.
MINI, along with a three-door version of the model is going to release a more practical version of the Cooper with five doors. It is reported that the MINI designers managed to increase the space at the knees of the hatchback rear passengers with a separate entrance to the "gallery" by almost 5 cm.
