In the middle of next year, a company from Ingolstadt will launch the production of the second generation sports model Audi R8.
The assembly of the car will be organized at the facilities of the new Böllinger Höfe company, on the territory of which there will be a body and assembly workshop and a logistics department. The company not without pride notes that the 23 ha plant will become one of the most environmentally friendly enterprises in the world - it is equipped, for example, with rainwater collection systems and solar heating.
"The opening of such an enterprise is a key element of the company's growth strategy and increasing the competitiveness of our brand. The plant will allow us to organize the entire assembly process of the R8 model under one roof," said plant manager Fred Schulz about Audi supercars.
According to preliminary information, the second generation of the Audi R8 will receive a body made of carbon fiber and aluminum. The automaker was considering the option of creating a supercar with a carbon monocoque, but in the end I had to abandon this idea, since a hybrid body is cheaper in producing a monocoque and is lighter in weight.
Due to the widespread use in the construction of R8 light materials, the model will have a lower mass compared to its predecessor.

In the fight against the "extra" pounds, Audi also intends to reduce the weight of engine components, suspension and various electronic systems as much as possible. The range of supercar engines will comprise gasoline engines with a power of at least 450 hp, coupled with the S-tronic dual-clutch seven-speed robotic transmission.
