The castle of Jaromerice nad Rokitnoy is also called the “Moravian Versailles”. It is no coincidence that the castle was really built as “our answer to the kings of France”. Surprisingly, the castle has not yet been discovered by foreign tourists, and the magnificent building is still inferior in popularity to other palaces. In addition to the traditional exposition of interior decoration from May 1, you can also see a new exhibition on a very attractive topic: historical cars.
At the beginning of the 20th century, only two aristocratic families owned cars in this region. Thanks to a happy coincidence, not only the first cars of local nobles were preserved in Jaromerice, but also all the historical accessories, including leather helmets, wind goggles (the cars were with an open body), and even fuel cans — then there were no gas stations. Cafe will be located in the underground room of the castle, dating from the XIV-th century. This is one of the few surviving parts of the castle, built by Edward III. 1350s and being one of the oldest in the building.
