During the Novruz period, Iranians in the eastern provinces of Turkey more often than other places visit Akhtamar Island and the Van fortress. This was stated by the chairman of the Union of Van on tourism, protection and development of cultural heritage Abdulla Tunchdemir.
In an interview with Turkish media, Abdullah Tunchdemir noted that at the time of Novruz, numerous Iranians arrived in the eastern provinces of Turkey, the majority of Iranian tourists preferred to Van. According to Tunchdemir, all the hotels of Van in the days of Novruz are fully loaded. The project provides for engineering works, improvement of the adjacent territory and the creation of a summer stage on it, children's playgrounds, souvenir shops, a restaurant of national cuisine. Local authorities have already reconstructed the park at the entrance to the object.
According to the National Geographic magazine, the Pirot fortress is one of 7 beautiful castles in Serbia. The building was built in the XIV century to protect against attacks of the Ottoman Empire. The Turks conquered the fortress only in 1386, but soon the Serbian troops won it back. The object belonged to the military until the XX century, when they began to carry out excavations and research here.
