The German automaker will complete the acquisition of a family of front-wheel drive cars built on the MFA platform in 2020.
The last member of the family will be the five-door station wagon CLA Shooting Brake, which will be based on the front-wheel drive “trolley” MFA.
The car, which received the nickname "CLS Shooting Brake Baby" from media representatives, will technically be not much different from the multi-door CLA-class coupe. It is expected that the station wagon will be available with five power gasoline and diesel units in the power range from 122 to 211 hp. and two types of transmission: six-speed "mechanics" and seven-speed "robot" with double clutch. It is possible that the “charged” version of the family CLA Shooting Brake model from the AMG studio with a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine developing 360 hp will appear on the market. and 450 Nm of torque, and an all-wheel drive system.
The premiere of the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake will take place in 2015 as part of one of the international motor shows - either in the spring in Geneva or in the fall in Frankfurt.
Previously, the German brand was going to replenish the product line with an A-class front-wheel drive convertible, but the company considered that the demand for a compact model with a retractable roof would not be too high.

As a result, the leadership of Mercedes-Benz decided to direct resources to other projects, in particular, the creation of an open modification of the S-class luxury coupe.
