A group of Dutch students from Delft University of Technology designed a car with an electric propulsion system and organized races, during which a new world record for acceleration time was set.
During the races on the runway of the Valkenburg airport, an electric car under the control of the pilotess Marley Kuipers, the lightest member of the team, managed to reach a speed of 100 km / h after only 2.15 s. after the start. The brainchild of Dutch students managed to surpass the previous world record by more than 0.5 s.
“We thought that we could show the time equal to 2.30 s., But in the end the car turned out to be even faster. We did not expect this at all,” team leader Tim de Mor admitted after the sportcars races.
The electric car, independently constructed by the students of the Delft University of Technology, is equipped with four motors, one for each wheel. The total power of the power plants is 135 hp, while the mass of the car is 145 kg, writes the WCF publication.
